As an excerpt as well as a continuation of her 2016 postgraduate show at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, Nieves de la Fuente Gutiérrez collages landscape photography, mars rover selfies and screenshots of game engine generated images, blurring the distinctions of their physical and digital origins, addressing the materiality of virtuality. Superimposed by text fragments on the anthropology of precious metals and the ethics of terraforming mars, fictional and nonfictional merge into a state of immediate fuzziness, questioning perceptions as well as the possibilities to communicate within contemporary imagery and content.

Nieves de la Fuente Gutiérrez, born 1988, lives and works in Cologne and Madrid
