J. Parker Valentine
Special Interests
Based on and acting as a continuation of the eponymous solo show (2019) at the exhibition space KRIEG in Hasselt, ‘Special Interests’ is as much an artist’s book as it is a monograph. Documentation of works from the last five years is juxtaposed with that of the new work produced for KRIEG, alongside the artist’s photographs of cut-out remnants from the latter’s process and a text by (Brussels-Turin-based) curator Lilou Vidal, all elements illustrating the unique practice of J. Parker Valentine — drawing that expands into a sculptural and environmental narrative beyond the autonomous object and its material-immanent conditions
